ADT sold us on a top-tier security system, but the cameras have been a constant headache. They frequently freeze, fail to record motion, and require constant reboots. When you call customer service to get tech support or replace faulty equipment, you are passed around from representative to representative or left on hold forever. They locked us into a contract for equipment that barely functions. Avoid ADT if you want reliable video monitoring." ### Zheng Fan a month ago · 1.0/5 Complaint About the South Houston Service Team Manager I used ADT for seven years, but I ultimately had to leave because the service team in South Houston has become toxic. In particular, the team manager did not seem interested in solving the customer’s problem and instead appeared focused on charging more money. I experienced a failure of the gateway, which is the device that manages all the sensors and communicates with the Wi-Fi router. The gateway had been in use since the system was originally installed. Over the past seven years, my house experienced countless power outages and electrical interruptions, but the device continued to work perfectly. Its failure was most likely caused by aging. However, the service team manager insisted on attributing the failure to a recent regional power outage, claimed that it was not covered under warranty, and requested $150 for the gateway replacement. In fact, the power outage occurred about one week before the gateway failed. I complained to ADT customer service and threatened to leave ADT. The customer service representative was very helpful and provided me with a $150 credit to cover the gateway replacement cost. However, when the service technician returned, he told me that his boss, the service team manager, said the entire panel system needed to be upgraded at a cost of $300. I was extremely frustrated and finally decided to leave ADT. Because of such a simple device replacement, I had to take time off work four times over a three-week period, yet the issue was still not resolved. I transferred to another provider, and they solved the problem in one visit and charged me only a $60 installation fee.
